PBAKL 2013

With Sir Awang Goneng, Nisah Haron, Kak Teh Zaharah
Dr Bubbles and Rudy (behind)

It was a memorable day indeed, after years of getting to know each other online, I finally got to meet Kak Teh and Sir Awang Goneng who were back from London and were guests at the KL International Book Festival White Sofa Session. Plans were quickly made for more rendezvous, In shaa Allah.

We were lucky, ITBM was having a 50% sale on all books. Pak Sako's Putera Gunung Tahan was the buy of the day.

UiTM MArch Urban Design Invited Speaker

Last April, I was invited to speak to a group of Master of Architecture students at UiTM.

Professor Rashidah felt that my research on Malay Hikayat and Heritage would benefit their project which was focused on Kampung Baru Development.

This was the first time I was to speak on Hikayat and Heritage for a practical purpose outside the ambit of literature and the world of storytelling. I was surprised that the two hour talk zipped by and the one hour Q&A was exhilarating. We talked about extensive research, and how in my findings, the Malay Hikayat revealed five legacies that could help them with their design. We talked about how knowledge of history and heritage can instill immense pride in our youth and people.

I had a marvelous time and I must thank my daughter Inas, who drove me to Shah Alam and assisted me with all the details and my mini exhibition. She  had a good exposure to the Architecture Department at UiTM.

Thank you Prof Rashidah and Prof Syed Sobri for a wonderful afternoon.

Singapore Back Pack Holiday

This is the first holiday in years, maybe about six years that all of us got to go away together.

We stayed in a little hotel near Bugis, and went for the Night Safari. Took the MRT everywhere, it was a breeze! The girls, even Ikesha, carried their own back packs.

Spent a whole day at Universal Studio Singapore the next day. I screamed throughout all the rides
and the girls danced away with buskers everywhere.

The night ended with fireworks by the boardwalk.

(Photos will be uploaded...one day)
